An impressionist piece, On the Road I depicts a quiet road, flanked by tall trees with a peek at a distant mountain vista. Golden splashes capture the sun's playful forays in and out of the leafy canopy. One of a series of two.
- Athanase studied classical painting in the European tradition, earning a master's degree from the Nicolai Pavlovich Academy of Fine Art in 1987. He began his artistic career using Mediterranean landscapes to develop and refine his skills. He continues to use traditional painting to express nature's infinite moods, capturing both the physical and atmospheric qualities of every landscape and letting light and color create the mood. He has shown his work in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Kobe, and Paris, and he has also completed numerous private commissions.
