• Thomas graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1964 and has spent his award-winning career devoted to the creation of fine art. He was commissioned by President and Mrs. Reagan to paint the official White House Christmas card from 1985 to 1988 and painted Christmas cards again in 2002 and 2003 for Vice President and Mrs. Cheney. His work is influenced by the compact spaces of Northern Ohio, where he grew up, and the vastness of the Pacific Northwest, where he now lives. Painting exclusively in watercolor, he eliminates nonessentials to focus on the intimate isolation of his subjects, crafting a signature style characterized by refined texture and delicate brushwork.
