- Brownstone is a deep, cool, walnut-colored, semi-transparent stain applied to maple, with a dark glaze and a medium sheen. The finish is moderately distressed, employing hand padding, hand wiping, cow tailing, moderate dark spatter, and dry brushing. Light hand burnishing with dark glaze, draws attention to the physical distressing and carvings to create an antiqued appearance. The physical distressing includes softened corners and edges, light random peck marks, light chisel marks, and light awl marks.
