• Artist: Vanna Lam - “As a child I’d always had a heartfelt connection with the arts. I have incorporated the arts in all aspects of my life since then. I live, eat and breathe art.” Vanna is a nature lover. She marvels at her intricate patterns, from the placement of petals to the spirals of a nautilus. She weeps at colors, shivers at the shades of greens that define nature’s freshness. After college, Vanna accepted a water-colorist position at Old World Prints. Her interest in this medium began after viewing miniature Moghal Indian paintings. Her drawings are influenced by their techniques. She is drawn towards the ornamental motifs, and sensual colors. She wants her paintings to tell stories of intense details. Vanna attended Virginia Commonwealth University gaining a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts. While studying glass working, she became enamored with its composition. Glass can be manipulated. It can be heated, melted, slumped, fused, blown and broken. “It goes through all the emotions I endure as an artist.” Glassblowing is much like Watercolor, it demands the same fluid control yet allows itself the freedom of looseness.
