Watercolors capture the essentials of each feather, including its shapes and color striations, letting the viewer's mind fill in fine details. One of a series of two; groups well with the Soft Feathers series.
- Naomi McCavitt was born in Richmond, Virginia, and began making artwork at an early age. Early experimentations as a child involved cutting, rearranging, painting and drawing on books. Her work has continued in this vein throughout her career as she is constantly recontextualizing objects with a history. Her use of resources from the past allows the inherent aesthetic value-and the meaning contained within-to shine through in new compositions. She takes pride in reveling in "the wild, the ridiculous and the naive."
