  • description

    The simple design of this shadowbox profile complements the art and draws the viewer’s focus to the original oil painting on paper. The finish of the wood frame is soft aged silver, much like the silver used in the image; the liner is an off-white mat board that complements the paper of the image. The painting floats just above and off of the mat board, accentuating the dreamlike quality of the image. The glass is UV protected and all of the paper products are preservation quality.

  • about the artist

    Jason Horton was born in Mississippi in 1974 into a very creative family. His mother was a still life oil painter; his father a cartoon illustrator thus by the age of ten, Jason was already winning awards for his art. Wanting to expand his horizons, at 17 Jason moved to New Orleans and was so moved by its culture and history, he took a position designing costumes for the street performers. As the years went on, Jason began to feel claustrophobic in the small city of New Orleans and in 1994, he moved to Atlanta. Working with the extravagant colors of the costumes lead him to become known in Atlanta for his expertise with color. Jason would host art parties in his loft where he would paint murals on the walls to coincide with the party theme. These murals eventually made it onto canvas and were displayed at nightclubs and independent studios. Recently, Jason has turned his talents to vessels and dresses them with the same frame of mind as he did his costumes. His works are admired and collected across the United States.
