  • about the artist

    Pierre-August Renoir (1841-1919) was born in Limoges, France. At 13, he worked in a Paris porcelain factory, where he gained experience with the light and fresh colors that would soon be the basis for Impressionist painting. In 1862, he entered the studio of Charles Gleyre and became particularly close to Monet.
