about the artist

Tobias Stranover (1675-1703) was born in the Transylvanian Alps. After traveling to Germany, he settled in England and married the daughter of painter Jakob Bogdani. The bird and fruit paintings of the two men began to show similarities from an obvious collaboration or shared studio.
