“Actress Laura Linney is the guest of honor at our Moves magazine fall fashion cover party.”

For Fashion’s Night Out, Moves magazine challenged alums of hit TV series Project Runway to produce great design for a great local cause: Craft a bag worthy of the runway in the color orange – it’s the signature color for hunger awareness – and allow it to be auctioned off to benefit Food Bank for New York City, a nonprofit organization that provides residents in need with a total of 300,000 fresh meals daily. The designers’ spectacular orange creations are on display in our Third Ave. windows – if you’re lucky enough to be in New York this week, come by and take a look! And check out foodbanknyc.org for more info on their excellent work and the latest auction details.

Invitation only: Laura Linney hosts Moves magazine fall fashion cover party

Fashion’s Night Out wouldn’t be complete without celebrity sightings, so we rolled out the red carpet at our Manhattan flagship for multitalented actress Laura Linney. With three Emmys, three Oscar nominations, and two Tony nominations to her credit, we couldn’t think of a brighter star to be our guest of honor. Ms. Linney helped us welcome nearly 300 guests, who spent the evening mingling with Project Runway designers, flipping through the latest Moves magazine, sipping mintless mojitos and l’orange rouges, and enjoying the overall glamour inside our most stylish Design Center.

During the party, we stole a few minutes with Ms. Linney, who’s currently starring in the new Showtime original series The Big C, and she told us how she would turn the aubergine Derek Lam dress she was wearing into a room design. “It would be a sitting room,” she said. “There would be a lot of cream with accents of this color [pointing at her dress].” Très chic!
