Ethan Allen is committed to environmental stewardship. Whether it’s by fueling the boilers in our manufacturing plants with scrap wood and sawdust or filling our mattresses with only CertiPUR-US® certified foams, which are made without mercury, lead, formaldehyde, ozone depleters, and a bunch of other stuff you shouldn’t have to worry about when you’re going to sleep, we are continually striving to reduce our impact on the planet.
Green isn’t a buzzword here; it’s our business model, and something we take very seriously both locally and globally. In fact, in 2013 we received two key environmental registrations. Read all about them under our Sustainable Operations tab. In 2014, the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation upgraded us to “Environmental Leader.” And the recognitions don’t end there. Check out the tabs at left for more on our environmental awards and honors plus stats on the strides we’ve made to improve our environmental impact.
In our Vermont plants, we've reduced our fossil fuel usage to nearly zero by generating usable electrical energy with scrap wood burned in our 1936 Skinner steam engine.
